New Smart Tags: Identify and Track Bucks by Age
Smart Tags in the Moultrie Mobile App make it easy to manage your trail cam photos and videos. Smart Tags automatically recognize and tag certain targets, like deer, bucks and does.
Now, we’re excited to take it a step further by adding more precise buck classifications. Our newest smart tags can distinguish between young bucks, mature bucks, and fawns, making it easy to segment your photos and get notifications for the ones you care about.
What are Smart Tags?
Smart Tags use cutting-edge AI technology to automatically identify and categorize wildlife, people and vehicles in your trail cam photos and videos.
Previously, our Smart Tags could identify and classify deer, bucks, and does. With this new update, we’ve refined the classification process to break this down even further – so you can track bucks’ size and age on your property. These tags save you time and effort by automatically organizing your media into collections.
With Smart Tags, you can focus more on planning your hunts and less on sifting through hundreds of images.
New Smart Tags - Buck Classification
Our latest Smart Tag additions include three distinct types of specialized tags for bucks. Whether you want to keep track of the youngest members of the herd, track growth and development over the seasons, or focus on prime targets, buck classifications can help you easily segment different bucks that you catch on camera.
- Fawn: Male Deer up to about 1 year old.
- Young Buck: Male Deer from 1 to about 3.5 years old.
- Mature Buck: Male Deer older than 4 years.
How We Categorize Bucks
With any Smart Tags, we use AI to assign tags as new photos are captured. Here’s how we do it:
- The app analyzes each image or video for key physical characteristics, such as: antler size, body mass, and other distinguishing features
- Using a vast database of deer images, the app compares these characteristics, identifying the age and maturity of each buck.
- The app automatically tags the image or video with the appropriate classification—young buck, mature buck, or fawn.
How to Use the New Buck Classification Smart Tags
The app will automatically tag bucks for you – then you can browse images and customize your notifications accordingly.
